Getting Started in Horse Breeding:

Horse breeding is one of the most rewarding and exciting businesses that you can be in. If you are thinking about breeding horses on any scale, for pleasure or for business, then we can help you. The WEBS Horse Breeding Start Up package can help you establish your own fully functioning stud with minimum of fuss.

We will visit your yard and help you plan your own collection area, laboratory, and additional stabling if required around whatever existing facilities you have or from scratch. We also provide pre-written protocols for everything from semen collection, to stallion handling, to post-natal care of the foal (if required).

We also offer training for you and your staff in all aspects of studwork. This can be done at your yard or at the WEBS breeding centre.

£ Price on application.

Getting Your Stud “Approved”:

If you are looking to promote your stud, improve customer satisfaction, and overall success, we suggest that you aim to live up to the standards laid down in the guidelines of the following bodies:

· Breeders Quality Mark assessment (BQM)
· Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs approved semen collection
centre requirements (DEFRA)
· European Union (EU)
· World Animal Health Organisation (OIE)
· International Standards Office (ISO)

You can apply to get your stud approved by any of these organisations. Applying can be expensive, but we can help you make sure that your facilities and protocols meet the necessary requirements, giving you the best chance of being approved.

Help with Infertile Animals

Some owners find that they have problems with their horses being infertile. A particular stallion may have a poor rate of conception, or a mare may not seem to get pregnant, or abort/absorb the foetus before parturition.

WEBS can undertake an extensive investigation into the reproductive physiology of the mare or stallion, and this can often lead to treatment that will greatly improve fertility, or success rates for pregnancy in the case of mares.

Fertility Investigation for Stallions: £175.00 (includes 2 days livery)
Fertility Investigation for Mares: £220.00 (includes 3 days livery)
